"Shogun" is set in feudal Japan in the 1600s at the dawn of the Battle of Sekigahara. As the enemy's siege approaches Lord Yoshii Toranaga, the strongest military commander in the Sengoku period, a British navigator called James Blackthorne, who comes bearing secrets that could save him from his predicament, drifts ashore into his territory.

Toranaga orders Mariko, a mysterious religious noblewoman who can speak English, to translate for Blackthorne (who later becomes known as Anjin) and a bond begins to form between the two. As the war rages on, their fates intertwine as they navigate among this treacherous political landscape while caught in a power struggle between two of the most powerful daimyōs.

Kojima Akane works for a stationary company. Her hobby, which she keeps as a secret, is reading BL manga. One day, she learns about fighting manga "Grappler Baki." She is fascinated by the fighters' bodies, words, and behaviors. Her imagination takes the characters and fighting scenes from Grappler Baki and reimagines it for a BL story. She is happy in her imaginary world, but, by meeting Takano and Shibamoto, her peaceful & happy days are swayed.

Arakawa Ao lives happily on his own and hardly ever leaves Shimokitazawa, where he works at a vintage clothing shop, goes to occasional concerts and hangs out at his favorite bar. Then, he gets an unusual request to appear in an independent film.

Teruko is a 28-year-old Office Lady. Five months ago, she fell in love with Mamoru at first sight. Since that time, she does not have the slightest care about her work or her friends. Unsurprisingly, she then loses her job and her friends start ignoring her. Yet, Teruko is happy as long as she is with Mamoru. Meanwhile, Mamoru thinks Teruko is an easy woman for him to not love. Teruko’s unrequited love grows deeper.

Igarashi Iori is a talented radiographer who believes the “truth” is definitely captured in CT and MRI images. He and radiologist Amakasu An work at a hospital’s radiology department where they determine the causes of patients’ illnesses and injuries.

30-year-old Shinkai Akira always smiles and she is perfect at work. She cares about those around her too much. 33-year-old Nemoto Kosei works as an accountant. He is friendly and popular among women. Nevertheless, he doesn't trust anyone and he does not fall in love easily. Akira and Kosei meet at a bar and become attracted to each other.

Samaru Ayuha is a high school student. She is honest and works hard at everything, no matter what. One day, she has trouble at a gyudon restaurant due to money. A man at the restaurant, Hiromitsu Yoshitaka, helps her out. The next day, she finds that Yoshitaka has come to her school as a substitute teacher for her ill homeroom teacher. Ayuha now believes that Yoshitaka is her fate in love. She keeps expressing her feelings to him.

Mizuno Gota, an aspiring musician, finds himself in a quandary when the convenience store where he works part-time suddenly closes down. One day, he catches sight of a newly-opened hamburger shop called Yankee Burger. When Mizuno enters, he is asked by the owner Ozeki Katsuya for feedback on the taste. He condescendingly tells Ozeki that the burger lacks punch, and the next thing he knows, he is offered a full-time job at the shop. Thinking that he can put his mother at ease and at the same time be able to drive a Ferrari some day if he stops living as a part-time worker and joins the hamburger shop, Mizuno decides to take the company entrance exam.

Jiro and Mifuyu(are a couple who just started dating. One day, they argue about how to eat the yolk of a fried egg. Jiro is stubborn about how to eat and he has a hard time dealing with people who eat differently. This causes Jiro to reflect deeply on his relationship with others including Mifuyu. He opens up to the different ways people eat and the different thoughts of others.

Michima Shin is a 30-years-old lonely and unpopular novelist who lives alone in a big house. Shin's father is a convicted murderer, awaiting capital punishment, who killed 3 people, including his wife, Shin's mother.

One day, five mysterious women showed up at Shin's house saying that they received an invitation to live with him in exchange of paying 1 million yen a month in rent. They set up rules for Shin such as no asking questions and no entering the women's rooms.

Six months later, Shin is used to the presence of those women, however, one day, an incident occurs that changed everything.
