Young-Woong is a psychiatrist (Kim Kyeong-Ik). He has been married to Soo-Hyun (Jin Hye-Kyung) for 10 years, but their love has waned and they now feel indifferent towards each other. Yoichiro (Kippei Shiina) is a ice-cool heart surgeon and an associate professor at a medical school. He is well known for developing an innovative method to transform an old heart into a young heart. Former yakuza Haruo is finally released from prison after completing his sentence. A special drama commemorating the 80th anniversary of NHK's broadcasting service. The story is about two sisters who meet each other again after living separated in Japan and Brazil for 70 years. In 1934, Haru and her family emigrated from Hokkaido to Brazil. Haru's younger sister Natsu, however, was left behind in Japan because of an eye disease. 70 years later, Haru visits Japan and locates the whereabouts of Natsu but the younger sister, who thinks she was abandoned by the family, rejects Haru. After a while, the two find out that both wrote numbers of letters to the other though the letters have been left undelivered to the addressees. Through the discovered letters, the sisters learn each other's life; Haru lived in Brazil as a member of an immigrant-laborer family surviving various difficulties while Natsu lived in Japan through the Second World War and postwar economic growth depending on herself and managing a business. The drama portrays the separated sisters' lives full of ups and downs as well as their family ties, asking the meaning of "homeland" and "family."

Set in a voice acting school, it depicts the growth of girls chasing dreams.

The 73rd NHK Asadora Drama is Kaze no Haruka, written by Omori Mika. The story is on Mizuno Haruka from Yufuin, Oita Prefecture, which is known as a hot spring resort. At the age of nine, Haruka moves from Osaka to Yufuin with her father Yosuke and her younger sister Asuka because Yosuke hopes to open a restaurant in the town. Her mother Yuko, however, chooses to stay in Osaka and the parents soon get a divorce. Yosuke starts running a restaurant but ends up closing it down soon after. Ten years later, Haruka supports her family by working part time while going to a junior college. Worrying about Haruka, Yuko invites her to come to Osaka and offers her a job. Akatsuka Detective Agency stands inconspicuously at Shimo Akatsuka in Tokyo’s Itabashi ward, right above a small snack shop run by their landlord. The story of three kingdoms. Kasit ruled by King Rangsimun is the wealthiest and most powerful but they lack a sea route, for this reason King Rangsimun had planned to politically wed Princess Maneesala of Tanta in order to conveniently use their water route. However if both Kasit and Tanta were to unite that would cause Puntoolat to become isolated and for this reason the three kingdoms have longed lived with suspicion of one another. Princess Maneesala decided to flee in order to escape the wedding because she had heard many ruthless stories about King Rangsimun but she accidentally fell into a trap and was rescued by Prince Tiyuttithorn/ P’Chai of Puntoolat where she asked to seek refuge. Upon hearing the news of Princess Maneesala’s disappearance and learning that it may be linked to P’Chai, Princess Tatsiga feared the start of a war and so she made her way to speak to P’Chai and got kidnapped by King Rangsimun and brought to Kasit. Tatsiga believed she was kidnapped as a hostage in order for Kasit to negotiate Maneesala’s return and so she began at first to dislike Rangsimun. However Rangsimun had fell in love with Tatsiga at first sight and so began their love story.

Natsumi just lost her younger sister, Haru, to cancer. As her sister's coffin finally closes for the last time, she whispers, "Wait until your big sister comes to you. I'll be there soon, okay?" However, Haru's fiancé, Tougo has other plans which might mend both their hearts.

Since his wife died, Masahiko has raised his daughter Hitomi by himself. Hitomi is now all grown up and an adult, but they still live together and rely on each other. On New Year's Day, they talk with each other like they usually do, but they both reveal bombshell news. Hitomi tells Masahiko that she is going to get married in 3 months. Masahiko is strongly opposed to his daughter's marriage because her future husband is an unpopular comedian and is 10 years older than her. Meanwhile, Hitomi tries to persuade her father to get medical treatment. Because they want each other to be happy, they can't give up their position and try to persuade the other person. In the end, they decide they don't want to waste the next 3 months and write down things they want to do. Hitomi writes down things she wants to do before she gets married, and Masahiko writes down things he wants to do before his death.

Haruka is a fisherman's daughter, who lost her home and many friends in the Tohoku earthquake. After a year living in a temporary housing, she did not want to return back to her hometown and went to Tokyo where she got captivated by a lighting store. Haruka later works at the store and decides to help the customers to find their own light in life. At the same time, Haruka slowly overcomes her emotional wounds and finds her own light.

Set in the 1960s. Songward was born into a Chinese mafia family but was given an opportunity to venture out of danger by getting adopted by a top colonel, whose life he had saved. Songward gets taken under the influential man’s wing and excelled in the police academy until his adopted father withdraws him from his last year at the academy, as well as removes him from the household in order to protect his and his own son’s future and objective. Now, she is 30 years old and works in a field far away from her ideal job. One day, she happens to meet mysterious university student Ogasawara Taku. She tells him about her past dream of becoming an architect. Ogasawara Taku tells her that it is never too late and that she can still get accepted into a university. Inspired by their talk, Shiratama Sayako decides to study once again for her university entrance exams. After she studies so hard, she finally gets accepted into a university.
