This drama is based on the Hong Kong TV industry in the 1980s, featuring characters who were TV artists in that era and how they later worked their way to become Hong Kong TV's future superstars.

The mentor-mentee pair of Sung Chung Gei and Kuang Gong Sang are widely lauded in the banking industry. However, to advance his career, Kuang Gong Sang purposefully transfers Sung Chung Gei to a foreign office. Unfortunately, Sung Chung Gei's plane crashes on the way there. When he awakens, he discovers that he is now in the body of an post-'90s youth, Bao Bao, who lives with his aunt, Bao Mei Na. Sung Chung Gei watches as Kuang Gong Sang flirts with his wife, Ling Kit Yue, and wealthy heiress Sheung Ho Yiu. As Sung Chung Gei tries to figure out how to recover what he had lost, he meets a sixty year old man, Lau Hang. The two click instantly. It turns out that Lau Hang experienced the same fate of switching bodies. The two of them investigate how they can return to their own bodies. When Sung Chung Gei discovers that Bao Bao is actually the banker Lui Chan's illegitimate son, he and Lau Hang plan a revenge scheme. But it unexpectedly causes Kuang Gong Sang to fall from a building and suffer serious injuries. Sung Chung Gei finally realizes that he misunderstood Kuang Gong Sang. The three of them try to get close to Lui Chan and his family. Sung Chung Gei enters the bank and starts working from the bottom. Kuang Gong Sang ruins the engagement between Sheung Ho Yiu and his friend Koo Tin Nok. Lau Hang drives a wedge between Lui Chan's second daughter Sheung Ho Sau and her husband Ko Man Kin. Living on the streets of Hong Kong, Chu Gam Chun claims that he is the Last Emperor of China. As social worker Fung Siu Yung follows his case, she gradually reveals his adventurous, absurd, legendary life devoted to pursing his love Yi Yung Yung. In the early 1930s, when he was still a youngster, Chu Gam Chun, along with his brother Chu Cheung Fun and friends Ng Do Ho and Nau Yuk Gon, compete in a firecracker scramble to earn money for him to marry Yi Yung Yung. Because of an accident, they not only miss out on the prize money, they also encounter strange people and events one after another. Ng Do Ho's sister Ng Do Yu is also implicated and becomes a social flower. Chu Gam Chun and his pals fail in the military and instead, become prisoners. They later end up in Shanghai. With the help of triad leader Nau Lik, Chu Gam Chun transforms into a powerful Shanghai tycoon. Although his heart still thinks about Yi Yung Yung, a missed opportunity causes the two of them to be separated again for forty years.

The drama is told in three separate folklore stories about love, lust, vanity, greed and selfishness.

Due to an unfortunate accident, magazine photographer Song Tian Chong lost her ability to see. Fong Ying proceeds on working on her concert and hires assistant Jinny Szeto and creative director Sean Song to help her produce the concert. Just as light seems to shine on Fong Ying again, darkness comes back into her life when Jinny finds out that Fong Ying was involve in an affair with her uncle in the past and Ben starts to suffer from hallucinations due to a brain tumor.

Minibus driver Kei Yat Sing failed to heed to his late father's advice and suffers a series of setbacks in his relationship and career. Ko Lap Yan, the Senior Psychiatrist of Yan Wo Hospital, is a competent and kind-hearted doctor who specializes in severe schizophrenia and even minor mental illnesses. Yan cures his patients not only by medication but also by psychological analysis. He diagnoses the cause with reference to the symptoms. The plot is interesting, intricate and extraordinary.

The psychiatrist Lin Chi Sum and the nurse Li Ying Chun are both good friends of Yan. Sum is keen on helping people. He has cured a patient suffering from a binge eating disorder Suen Ka Pik. They have overcome a lot of difficulties and become a couple. Yan is a divorced single father with a daughter.

After the failed marriage, he did not long for love affairs until he chanced upon an Inspector of the Serious Crime Unit, Mok Man Yee. They have gradually developed their relationship through a business contact. However, in order to avoid the recurrence of genetic and mental diseases, Yee detaches her feeling from Yan.

To complicate things, Tong Bak Fu gets involved into a power struggle among the Emperor, Prince Ling and others.
