It tells the story of the demon king and the unlucky princess as they weave through memories of the past in a collection of books. With a mission to complete, they experience the love and sadness of various spirits and monsters.

Unfortunately, Western Wei goes into battle and Yan Xun’s family is slaughtered. After that incident, Yan Xun grows ambitious and cruel to avenge for the things and the people he lost. He doubts Chu Qiao and takes advantages of her loyalty and love many times, disregarding their relationship as well as the sacrifices he will have to make for power. Disappointed with the man she once loved, Chu Qiao eventually breaks off her relationship with Yan Xun and chooses to fight with Yu Wen Yue, destroying Yan Xun’s plans of vengeance. She eventually convinces Yuwen to free the country from slavery, becoming a successful military strategist/female general in the people’s hearts.

Based off the novel by Fresh Guo Guo, tells the story of Hua Qian Gu, on the day of her birth flowers wilted and and the skies turned dark as her mother passed during child birth. Her father past away when she turned 16 years old. Before he died, he advised her to learn some skills in order to help her survive as it appears that she has the strange ability to lure demons and other worldly creatures through her scent.

She heeds her fathers advice and heads to Mount Shu, where it is said there are people who are experts in dealing with demons and other creatures. However, upon reaching Mount Shu, her journey is stalled when she witnessed the death of the leader of the sect. Thus Qian Gu heads to the Chiang Lu sect to seek for help. There she meets Bai Zi Hua, the most gentle yet cold-hearted man, who becomes her teacher, mentor and lover. Besides Bai Zi Hua, are Dong Fang Yu Qing who cares for Qian Gu's safety and Sha Qian Mo who is the leader of the demon realm, that are also romantic interests of Qian Gu.

The drama is also directed by Lin Yu Fen who has previous dramas such as 'Da Mo Yao', 'Bu Bu Jing Qing' and 'An Angel's happiness' to his credits.

A woman with magical powers still can’t make a man she loves fall in love with her. Xiao Wei is a demon fox who was raised as a human girl by Xia Lao along with his granddaughter Xia Bing. But when Xiao Wei unleashes her demon spirit and accidentally kills Xia Lao, she begins her life on the run. Xia Bing is devastated by the loss of her grandfather and swears she will track down Xiao Wei and get revenge. Meanwhile, Xiao Wei is taken in by a general Wang Sheng and his wife Pei Rong. But soon, Pei Rong begins to suspect that Xiao Wei is a demon in disguise and requests help from Pang Yong, who has always had feelings for Pei Rong, to help her. As Pang Yong begins to investigate Xiao Wei, he meets up with Xia Bing, and the two try to expose Xiao Wei with each other’s help. Xiao Wei falls in love with Wang Sheng but is unable to use her strong powers to win her heart. Angry by this, Xiao Wei casts a “painted skin” spell on Pei Rong to make the world believe that she is a demon.

It is adapted from the 2008 film by the same title, which also is loosely based on a classic short story from “Strange Stories From a Chinese Studio” by Pu Song Ling.
