Born and raised in Cheung Chau, CHEUNG BO SAN's (Raymond Wong) nature of being too ambitious but having little talent, drove his father CHEUNG SING MUI's (Elliot Ngok) seafood restaurant business to bankruptcy. BO SAN felt disheartened and depressed, but fortunately he had a female director CHENG PO PO (Aimee Chan) by his side supporting him. When BO SAN crashed his boat and broke his leg, PO PO was willing to push him around in his wheel chair. Meanwhile, KWOK HEI MAN (Selena Li) suddenly gives up on her career and goes back to Cheung Chau to help her mother YIP WING SAN (Susan Tse) manage their resort business. It turns out, HEI MAN secretly worked on a project to develop a hotel kingdom with another person and intentionally started a relationship with BO SAN to upset PO PO. HEI MAN's motives were all seen by her first love CHING LAI WING (Ruco Chan). WING could not accept her wrongdoings at all, so now he and PO PO were in the same boat. Six young people with different personalities and different backgrounds move into a boarding house together. In 2011, the junior high school in Ota Ward experiences a complete breakdown in classroom discipline. Takizawa Momoko, an English teacher in charge of the third-year students, writes the words “My dream” on the blackboard, but it is in vain for no one participates in the lesson. Even so, Momoko perseveres in reaching out to her students. Yokote Ryoko, the present school principal who was once colleagues with Goto Akira, is supportive of her. In 1994, a human skeleton is found in the mountain of Saitama. A shogi game piece is found with the skeleton. The shogi piece was made by a master craftsman. Veteran detective Takeshi and rookie detective Naoya begin to investigate the owner of the shogi piece.

Keisuke is a genius professional shogi player. While doing an interview with a shogi magazine, Keisuke recalls his childhood. In 1972, Keisuke was an elementary school student and he lived with his father. His father was violent and did not even give Keisuke a proper meal. Keisuke happened to meet Koichiro, who was a retired teacher. Koichiro was nice to Keisuke and, because of him, Keisuke became fascinated with the game of shogi.

Detective Takeshi and Detective Naoya go to see Keisuke. Is Keisuke the killer? Who is the dead person?
