After the horrific incident, Oh Hyun Jae vanished and he now lives in seclusion. Meanwhile, Cha Soo Young is a police officer in the countryside. She has a special ability which allows her to remember exactly everything she sees. Due to her special ability, she is selected as a rookie detective who will partner with Oh Hyun Jae informally. Together they work to solve cases and uncover the truth behind the Peppermint Killer, the resurfaced serial killer who murdered Hyun-Jae's fiancé five years ago.

Set during the Korean War, North Korean and Chinese prisoners of war are sent to a camp on Geoje Island in South Korea. The POW camp itself is under intense strife between prisoners who are pro-communists and anti-communists. Rho Ki Soo is a young North Korean soldier held at the Geoje POW Camp.

Meanwhile, Sergeant Jackson is ordered by a superior officer into forming a tap dancing team from the POW camp. He holds an audition in the camp and selects Chinese soldier Xiaofang , South Korean Kang Byung Sam who was falsely accused of being a communist sympathizer and civilian Yang Pan Rae who wants to support her family. Sergeant Jackson also recognizes the immense talent Rho Ki Soo has for dance. Soon, the "Swing Kids" are formed, but will their dreams of dancing come true?

Captain Kang then agrees to transport Chinese-Korean stowaways from the sea back to the port. The other crew members including Dong Shik and Chang Wook are freaked out about the captain's plan, but they agree to go along with it.

During a stormy night, the fishing vessel Jeonjiho stops in the middle of ocean and allows another boat to transfer its stowaways onto their ship. A young woman, Hong Mae, falls into the ocean, but Dong Shik jumps into the water to save her. Their nightmare journey begins.
