'Alpha Girls' are defined as 'girls who have found their place in a non-traditional career path.' This docuseries follows four women who fit this definition in every way: runway model Soo Joo Park, music producer and DJ TokiMonsta, hip hop illustrator Mina Kwon, and fashion designer Miss Lawn (Lanie Alabanza-Barcena). They are at the top of their games when we meet them, but reaching a huge turning point in their lives: will Soo Joo Park be able to get over her fractured foot and make a big splash at New York Fashion Week? Will Mina Kwon get over her creative slump? Will TokiMonsta crash and burn in her first show in Korea? And how will Miss Lawn juggle her bride-to-be best friend's expectations while expanding her fashion label Hellz Bellz?

Newspaper journalist Akiba Shunsuke is transferred to the cultural desk and put in charge of shogi. He meets Sanada Nobushige, a 33-year-old aiming to be a professional shogi player by achieving the rank of 4-dan or more. Sanada is over the age limit as he could not achieve 4-dan by the age of 26, and is now trying to take an exam for admission to 3-dan. Akiba supports Sanada's attempt to become a professional shogi player and becomes interested in the game...

The film is set in the early 20th century, during the Japanese colonial rule of Korea. Jeong Taek is a master of Pyongyang Nalpharam, a form of the ancient Taekkyeon martial art perfected on Mount Taeseong near Pyongyang. He returns home one day to find his father poisoned by Korean-born Japanese woman Mieko, who claims that the elder was responsible for the death of her own father. At first mistaking the woman for his childhood sweetheart, So Gyeon, Taek is forced into action when Japanese forces lay claim to the sacred texts containing the secrets of Pyongyang Nalpharam.
