The drama is told in three separate folklore stories about love, lust, vanity, greed and selfishness.

{Changing Pins} - Male and female fraternal twins fall in love with different men with the same appearance. The older male twin has an homosexual affair with a Prince of the Liao Kingdom, while the female twin falls in love with a poor scholar.

{Judge Lu} - A poor scholar has an affair with a courtesan that resembles his wife.

{Chasing Fish} - A scholar becomes the object of affection to a fish spirit and human girl with the face.

After recovering from a long term illness, semi-retired popular singer Wah Fong Ying realizes that she has lived an unfulfilled life. With two failed marriages and estranged relationships with all of her children she lives a lonely life. Wanting to mend her relationship with her oldest daughter who resides in Taiwan, she travels there and meets Hong Kong photographer Ben Law, who is a fan of her. Ben is in Taiwan to fulfill his late wife's wish to have her remains returned to her ancestral home. Romance sparks between the two and soon each becomes the other's strength and support. Realizing that throughout her career she has never sung for her loved ones and with Ben's encouragement, Fong Ying decides to hold a last concert for her friends and family, but her daughter Tong Yan rejects her invitation to attend. Fong Ying proceeds on working on her concert and hires assistant Jinny Szeto and creative director Sean Song to help her produce the concert. Just as light seems to shine on Fong Ying again, darkness comes back into her life when Jinny finds out that Fong Ying was involve in an affair with her uncle in the past and Ben starts to suffer from hallucinations due to a brain tumor.

Minibus driver Kei Yat Sing failed to heed to his late father's advice and suffers a series of setbacks in his relationship and career. Despite this, he stays strong and insists on raising the son that his girlfriend had with another man. His neighbour, Hung Ji Lung, has always looked up to Yat SIng as a big brother. Ji Lung hopes that Yat Sing would be with his sister Hung Lai Sa, but he is hesitant to enter into a new relationship.

A traffic accident causes Kei Yat to encounter Yiu Ngai Yat, the CEO of a large corporation. She admires his personality and hires him as her personal driver. The only person she can trust is her cousin Yiu Chi Hau, but he lacks his own opinion and has an ambiguous relationship with an employee Mui Man Gwan. One time, Ngai Yat mistakenly believes that Kei Yat betrayed her and demands that he quit within seven days. At this critical moment, he helps her escape from the difficult situation. Multi-talented scholar Tong Bak Fu is traveling around the country with his good friend Wat Gei. Tong Bak Fu is trying to find the last beauty to complete his 'Nine Beauties Painting'. During his journey he falls in love with Chau Heung, a maid from the Wah family, and decides to paint her to complete his painting. In order to get close to her, he becomes a servant of the Wah family. In the beginning Tong Bak Fu is regarded as a talentless person by Chau Heung. Things get messier as several difficulties arise that only Tong Bak Fu can solve. With different views about life, Tong Bak Fu and Chau Heung seem to be incompatible. Spoilt Princess Tin Yuk makes things harder as she bullies Tong Bak Fu and others constantly, but falls in love with Tong Bak Fu later. To complicate things, Tong Bak Fu gets involved into a power struggle among the Emperor, Prince Ling and others.
