The Kingdom Night Club “mamasan” Sa Ching Ha and her girls Shek Wai King, Man Nga Lun, Kong Kit Yee and Yue Hau Hau get along well. Each of the quintet has her own reasons for playing the role of midnight lady. But they all have certain issues in their romantic relationships.

After sacrificing everything for her boyfriend, Dave, Nga Lun realizes she has been scammed. Wiseguy Cheuk Chi Fei wants to help her get out of this mess. However, their relationship becomes complicated due to Wai King’s presence.

After recovering from a long term illness, semi-retired popular singer Wah Fong Ying realizes that she has lived an unfulfilled life. With two failed marriages and estranged relationships with all of her children she lives a lonely life. Wanting to mend her relationship with her oldest daughter who resides in Taiwan, she travels there and meets Hong Kong photographer Ben Law, who is a fan of her. Ben is in Taiwan to fulfill his late wife's wish to have her remains returned to her ancestral home. Romance sparks between the two and soon each becomes the other's strength and support. Realizing that throughout her career she has never sung for her loved ones and with Ben's encouragement, Fong Ying decides to hold a last concert for her friends and family, but her daughter Tong Yan rejects her invitation to attend. Fong Ying proceeds on working on her concert and hires assistant Jinny Szeto and creative director Sean Song to help her produce the concert. Just as light seems to shine on Fong Ying again, darkness comes back into her life when Jinny finds out that Fong Ying was involve in an affair with her uncle in the past and Ben starts to suffer from hallucinations due to a brain tumor.

Ko Lap Yan, the Senior Psychiatrist of Yan Wo Hospital, is a competent and kind-hearted doctor who specializes in severe schizophrenia and even minor mental illnesses. The psychiatrist Lin Chi Sum and the nurse Li Ying Chun are both good friends of Yan. Sum is keen on helping people. He has cured a patient suffering from a binge eating disorder Suen Ka Pik. They have overcome a lot of difficulties and become a couple. Yan is a divorced single father with a daughter.

After the failed marriage, he did not long for love affairs until he chanced upon an Inspector of the Serious Crime Unit, Mok Man Yee. They have gradually developed their relationship through a business contact. However, in order to avoid the recurrence of genetic and mental diseases, Yee detaches her feeling from Yan.

One day, Ling Wan accidentally saves the Emperor in disguise. He sees Ling Wan's real face and immediately falls in love with her. When he returns to the Imperial Palace, he could not get her off his mind so he sends someone to bring Ling Wan into the palace. Once Chor Chor realizes that Ling Wan's ugly face was fake and that the Emperor was bringing her into the palace she immediately goes find the "face changer", Siu To who she met beforehand in the village. Chor Chor makes Ling Wan unconscious and they switch faces. With now Ling Wan's face, Chor Chor takes her place and goes into the palace. The confused Ling Wan decides to travel to the palace alone to tell the Emperor the truth.
