In the midst of war, four young men fall in love.

In 1765, as the invading Angwa (Burmese) army marched towards the capitol of Ayutthaya Kingdom (Siam), they encountered little resistance from the Ayutthaya army, who retreated to defend from behind the capitol's walls.

Three childhood friends, in the Ayutthaya army, are constantly at odds. Thap wants to fight bravely, as Sang and Khap follow orders and retreat. Unhappy with the army, Thap defects and joins a group of patriotic rebels who eventually all gather at the village of Bang Rajan to defend against the Angwa.

Thap is patient, brave and righteous. Sang is hotheaded, stubborn, and overbearing. He is also ambitious and knows how to talk his way to a promotion. Khap is gentle, follows Sang's lead, but is also smart and wise to Sang's bravado. Sang is competitive and wants to win over Thap, but their personalities are not the only thing driving the rift. Sang loves Juang, Thap's sister, while Khap is madly in love with Feung, Thap's fiancee.

Thap does not want his, or Feung's family, to retreat to the capitol, although he has to be in hiding as a deserter. Sang takes this opportunity to be the protector of Juang and Feung. He convinces Khap that they must kidnap the girls and take them to the capitol for safety, while Thap is in pursuit to retrieve them. Also for the girls' protection, Sang and Khap declare that Juang and Feung are their wives. Along the way, they meet the mysterious Jai, who has fallen for the brave and patriotic Sapai.

The village of Bang Rajan, according to Thai tradition, is where a group of brave villagers, gathered from various regions, put up a brave fight and fought eight battles against the well organised invaders and became legendary heroes. The battle for Bang Rajan is a symbol of determination and heroism against overwhelming odds.

Ka Badin, which takes place in the era of King Nang Klao, the third reign (after King Rama II). The story sets around the period when England (known as Wilat at the time) enters into a commercial partnership role with Thailand, and this historical fact plays as a backbone to the plot of this drama.

Because Haym is a good looking, well-mannered and bright boy, he is known as “Phor Haym Roop Thong” meaning “Phor Haym the Golden”. He had already met her when they were younger, and this propels them to fall in love. However due to their status differences, as well as interference from another man who wants Lamduan for himself, Haym pursues the military forces so that he can improve his status. With his brilliance and capability, Haym climbs the military rung (so to speak) and also becomes the national pride and bravery of Badin.

Set in 1930s Shanghai, this legendary tale depicts how Zhang Lian Xin, born as a lowly maid, breaks through the chains of destiny in the midst of China’s war with Japan. While pursuing freedom and love, Lian Xin becomes a pawn in Zhang Wen Jin’s plans to overthrow his father, and along with Chong Yang, she’s framed for murder. Experiencing numerous hardships together as they fight against Wen Jin and the Japanese, Lian Xin and Chong Yang become lovers. Follows the life of poet Yun Dong-Ju (Dec. 30, 1917 – Feb. 16, 1945). He was eventually imprisoned by the Japanese government for being involved in the Korean independence movement.

The movie is about China's role in the Korean War of 1950-1953. China had joined Russia in supplying arms and men to North Korean forces, which had invaded South Korea. America supported South Korea, and the 1953 armistice between the two sides resulted in the permanent division between North Korea and South Korea. With a total death toll exceeding 1 million deaths, and Korean civilian deaths accounting for the majority of those deaths, it was the fifth bloodiest war in U.S. history.

Story 1- In the night of September 16, 1890, the Turkish frigate Ertugrul is caught up in a typhoon and sinks off the coast of Kushimoto, Japan. With more than 500 crew members dead, it's the largest sea accident in history at that time. An extraordinary rescue effort is taken by the local residents to save the Turkish sailors.

Story 2 - In 1985, during the Iran-Iraq War, Iraq announces an indiscriminate attack over Iranian air space. More than 300 Japanese nationals are stuck in Tehran, Iran. Turkey offers to evacuate the Japanese by sending a Turkish airplane. For the remaining Turks who are still in Tehran, this means that they won't be able to board their own country's evacuation flight.

In sixth-century China, the Emperor of Great Liang orders the unjust execution of his brother-in-law Marshal Lin Xie alongside the Lin family, his 70,000 army soldiers, and Crown Prince Qi. Secretly surviving the massacre is Lin Xie's son, Lin Shu, who undergoes medical treatment that changes his appearance entirely and leaves him in a weakened state, unable to ever perform martial arts again. Lin Shu changed his name to Mei Chang Su and later became the chief of the pugilist world and established the Jiangzuo Alliance.

Twelve years later, Mei Chang Su returns to the capital with a secret plan after being sought after by Prince Yu and Prince Xian during their fight for the throne. He decides to covertly assist Prince Jing, the unfavoured son of the Emperor, and wisely rids the court of all scheming officials.

In June 2002, while South Korea is caught in football frenzy as the national team plays against Turkey for third place in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the North Korean navy deploys two of their patrol boats towards theNorthern Limit Line, a disputed maritime border near Yeonpyeong Island in the Yellow Sea. In the midst of its usual duties, South Korean patrol boat 357 finds itself under surprise attack.

This drama takes place during the turbulent Spring and Autumn Period and tells the well-known story of the downfall and revival of Gou Jian, King of Yue. After his defeat, Gou Jian was captured and enslaved by King Fu Chai of Wu. Faking submission and loyalty while secretly planning revenge during his imprisonment, Gou Jian is eventually allowed to return to his native Yue. Upon his return to rule, Gou Jian strengthens the kingdom with the help of talented advisors and politicians like Fan Li and Wen Zhong while weakening Wu internally through bribery and strategic diplomatic dealings. "Wo Xin Chang Dan" is a phrase coined to depict Gou Jian's perseverance and self-imposed hardships designed to constantly remind himself of the humiliations he withstood while serving Wu.

On 9 August (Showa 20) 1945, one streetcar starts to run on the streets of Hiroshima which has been devastated. The surviving employees of the electric tram company had begun recovery work since the day after the atomic bomb was dropped. The bent tracks were hammered down and the overhead wires were set up again. A mere three days after the bombing, they manage to resume service on a section of the route. The drivers are young girls in their mid-teens who work while studying at the company’s girls school for home economics. Working in place of the males who have gone off to war, they are crew of the streetcar and even in charge of driving. 16-year-old Amada Toyoko (Kuroshima Yuina) is one of them. Born in a farming village in the outskirts of Hiroshima, Toyoko had heard that she could study while working, and came to Hiroshima. She was driving during the morning shift on the day that the atomic bomb was dropped, but miraculously survived although she was thrown out of the streetcar. Now she stands at the driver’s seat with her head wrapped in a bandage. The car is filled with people who are going in search of family members. Everyone clings to hope and stares ahead. Then the end of the war greets them. The streetcar continues to run on the streets of Hiroshima which has lost everything.

“Once the streetcar runs, Hiroshima will come to life again!” Matsuura Akitaka (Abe Hiroshi), the head of the electric tram company’s electrical section and a widower with three children, is tasked with restoring the main routes within one month. The streetcar which travels the forlorn streets becomes the hope of Hiroshima before anyone realises it.

Directed by Junya Sato and based on a book by Jun Henmi, "Yamato" has a framing story set in the present day and uses flashbacks to tell the story of the crew of the World War II Japanese battleship Yamato....

This is a film about a Naval Air Corps Director who hates the war. Director Honda uses this film to ask the question "What is war?", showing the human bonds between Japan and America, Japanese military tactics which had little regard for life, and the attitude of Japanese military personnel who treated their actions as if they were just doing a job. This film contains few battle scenes, concentrating instead on the love stories of young officers and female members of the community in this lonely air base. The setting for this film is Rabaul, an island in Papua New Guinea where the Japanese maintain a military air, the loss of which dealt a decisive blow to the Japanese in the South Pacific Theater. Unlike The Eagle of the Pacific, this movie contains many more dramatic elements. Lt. Wakabayashi, reputed as a daredevil-like leader with his strict way of life...his war friends...the teenage boy pilots in Wakabayashi's squadron...a reporter...the women at the local bar...through all these characters, Director Honda shows a quiet anger towards the spirit of a war which destroys society and shows little regard for human life. Whereas The Eagle of the Pacific utilized a lot of footage from The War at Sea From Hawaii to Malay, this film has many scenes which are well coordinated between the drama and special effects crews. Good examples are the aerial dogfight with the enemy pilot nicknamed 'Yellow Snake', Lt. Wakabayashi attempting a forced landing at the seashore in order to save his friend, and where Lt.Wakabayashi flies into a thunderhead to escape the pursuit of enemy planes. This well-planned combination paved the way for the success of Godzilla later the same year.

Set during the Spring and Autumn Period, this drama revolves around famous historical figures of the era like Sun Wu, Wu Zi Xu and Wu Jiu as well as the victories and defeats of the individual kingdoms of Qi, Chu, Wu, Yue, Jin, et al. China's greatest literary classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms comes to the big screen in the period epic Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon. Though big-budget Chinese epics have become a mighty familiar sight in recent years, the Three Kingdoms era and its fabled lore is rarely tackled in cinema, making this latest blockbuster from Daniel Lee (Dragon Squad, A Fighter's Blues) a groundbreaking effort. Deftly hitting screens before John Woo's Three Kingdoms adaptation Red Cliff, Resurrection of the Dragon is based on Luo Guangzhong's 14th-century novel which romanticizes the heroic exploits of Shu King Liu Bei and his larger-than-life generals and advisor. Maintaining his Mandarin period blockbuster streak after A Battle of Wits and The Warlords, Andy Lau stars as legendary general Zhao Zilong (better known as Zhao Yun), immortalized in both Luo's novel and in popular culture as the paragon of courage, charisma, and strength. Starting off as a foot soldier, Zhao rises quickly in the ranks to become the top general under Liu Bei (Ngok Wah). In the late 1930's (Show Period 14), two sides in Japan are conflicted between joining Germany and Italy in a military alliance. At this time, Isoroku Yamamoto, who strongly opposed the alliance, is appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet. The following year, on September 27, Japan, Germany and Italy form the Axis alliance.

Isoroku Yamamoto leads the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The attack's main purpose is to gain an early peace settlement. The surprise military strike appeared successful and caused massive damage, but US aircraft carriers were not damaged in the assault. After the attack, the Axis alliance initially saw advances without any defeats.

By April 18, 1942 (Show Period 17), formations of U.S. B-25B bombers, flown from an U.S. aircraft carrier, attacked the Japanese mainland for the first time. The Japanese military responded by carrying out their Midway operation, but the mission failed, and the Japanese military lost 4 aircraft carriers.

The U.S. army were encouraged by their victory at Midway and proceeded to carry out a landing operation on Guadalcanal. The Japanese and U.S. military fought fiercely. Besides the toll from fighting the U.S. military, the Japanese military suffered from starvation, dehydration and diseases while on Guadalcanal. The Japanese military were nearing collapse on Guadalcanal before Isoroku Yamamoto gave the order to withdraw to save more lives.

After the completion of the withdrawal from Guadalcanal, Isoroku Yamamoto flew on an airplane to make moral boosting visits to soldiers on the front line. His plane would be intercepted by the U.S. military.

King Goujian of Yue was once imprisoned by King Fuchai of Wu after a defeat in war, and Yue later became a tributary state to Wu. Secretly planning his revenge, Goujian's minister Wen Zhong suggested training beautiful women and offering them to Fuchai as a tribute (knowing Fuchai could not resist beautiful women). His other minister, Fan Li, found Xi Shi and Zheng Dan, and gifted them to Fuchai in 490 BC. Bewitched by the beauty and kindness of Xi Shi and Zheng Dan, Fuchai forgot all about his state affairs and at their instigation, killed his best advisor, the great general Wu Zixu. Fuchai even built Guanwa Palace (Palace of Beautiful Women) in an imperial park on the slope of Lingyan Hill, about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) west of Suzhou. The strength of Wu dwindled, and in 473 BC Goujian launched his strike and put the Wu army to full rout. King Fuchai lamented that he should have listened to Wu Zixu, and then committed suicide. In the legend, after the fall of Wu, Fan Li retired from his ministerial post and lived with Xi Shi on a fishing boat, roaming like fairies in the misty wilderness of Taihu Lake, and no one saw them ever again. This is according to Yuan Kang's Yue Jueshu (越绝书). Another version, according to Mozi, is that Xi Shi eventually died from drowning in the river. (西施之沈，其美也)
