On the night Mu Yun Lan confessed his feelings to Ling Yun He, an arrow with a fire lotus pattern is shot into the Left Prime Minister's manor to unveil a mysterious underground organization known as ghost soldiers.

Ling Yun Ge and Mu Yun Lan decide to investigate the matter, but on the night of their wedding, she is imprisoned for the crime of deceiving the king. She thought that her true love, Mu Yun Lan, would come to her rescue, but only betrayal awaited her. Just when she seemingly comes upon a cruel truth, she unknowingly falls into a bigger conspiracy.

The story is set in an eerie castle near the beach. Banleu owns the castle, Tanon is his son. Rattikan is Banleu’s adopted daughter. He married Rattikan’s mother when she was 2 months pregnant with another man’s child. Tanon never saw Rattikan when they were young, he spent most of his life studying at a boarding school in Bangkok. As an adult, he moved to the US to study. When he returns to Dew Palace after 20 odd years, his father wants him to take over the family business, and to be the master of “Dew Palace”, and also to marry Rattikan. One problem, Tanon doesn’t want any of it. He is engage to Kathy and wants to return to America. Fuse Kyoichi (Kamikawa Takaya) is a reporter who belongs to the news bureau of TBN TV. A roving reporter with no specific beat, he makes fullest use of this position and has scored numerous scoops with his distinctive interviews. Fuse obtains evidence linking the suicide of a construction company’s head of department to the illegal donation scandal of Yamanobe Tetsuo (Ono Takehiko), the secretary general of the ruling party, and confronts Yamanobe himself. However, despite having proof that the other media outlets do not have, he ends up handing the evidence over to Mochida Yutaka (Shoji Tomoharu) of Toa Shimbun just because he does not want it on television. This comes to the attention of other outlets. The bureau editor Hatoyama Akio (Fukikoshi Mitsuru) and bureau chief Yui Taro (Otomo Kohei) are naturally outraged. But Fuse is completely indifferent. Then the news bureau gets information that the actress Sawano Reiko (Shibuya Aki) is involved in a traffic accident. Reiko is an actress who attracts the entertainment media and there had also been rumours of her affair with a movie director called Sakaki who is now deceased. Fuse was the one who exposed this grand passion. When he arrives at the hospital, entertainment reporters have already gathered. Shimazaki Rokuro (Aijima Kazuyuki) is also there. Once he finds Reiko’s mother, Kaede (Lily), he aggressively seeks her comments. Fuse stands up for her and gets her into the safety of the hospital. However, Reiko passes away despite surgery. Fuse has no words to offer Kaede who is bereaved by the sudden loss of her daughter. Kaede soon calms down and tells him about a strange message that she received from Reiko right before the accident. It said, “I want to meet Sakaki. I greatly regret our breakup.” Why did Reiko, who has recovered from the shock of Sakaki’s death and been cheerful lately, suddenly express her desire to meet Sakaki. After returning to TBN TV, something occurs to him from his conversation with Kayama Eriko (Natsuna), who has become the new caster of TBN’s News 11. He heads to the bar where Kuroda Yusuke (Matsushige Yutaka), a Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department detective is at, with the intention of trading information regarding Reiko’s accident for information on Yamanobe. However, the television at the bar is shows Shimazaki reporting the contents of the message that Reiko sent to her mother on another network’s news programme. How did Shimazaki obtain a message that only Reiko’s mother and Fuse knew about? A connection between these two seemingly unrelated cases is revealed … …

Hong Kong star Nicholas Tse continues his string of period action dramas with the exciting epic series The Spirit of the Sword. This is Tse's third starring role in a Gu Long adaptation, following Big Shot and Proud of Twins, and he is clearly in his element, handling both the action and drama with convince and charisma. Television fans may remember ATV's classic 1978 The Spirit of the Sword adaptation starring the late Leslie Cheung, but this new updated version is an equally worthwhile and star-studded affair. Other than Tse, the drama stars EEG labelmate Gillian Chung of Twins, as well as Hong Kong actor Patrick Tam (Born Wild) and Taiwanese singer/actress Annie Yi (Poor Prince). This new version of The Spirit of the Sword departs from the original novel by revolving around Japanese swordsman Bai Yi Ren, offering a new perspective on the story. Tse stars as a young swordsman who travels to the Middle Kingdom in search of seven mythical swords to fulfill his father's dying wishes. Though he has no intentions of causing trouble, his quest unwittingly brings him into conflict with the martial arts world as he gets pulled into mysterious conspiracies and a dangerous clash with his stepbrother.

Yamada Taro, a freshman on a scholarship at Ichinomiya Private Senior High School, is high-achieving, strikingly handsome, and truly athletic and seems perfect. But he is actually extremely poor. The story humorously portrays Taro, who tackles problems that occur because of his poverty, and his six younger brothers and sisters. --TBS
