The 73rd NHK Asadora Drama is Kaze no Haruka, written by Omori Mika. The story is on Mizuno Haruka from Yufuin, Oita Prefecture, which is known as a hot spring resort. At the age of nine, Haruka moves from Osaka to Yufuin with her father Yosuke and her younger sister Asuka because Yosuke hopes to open a restaurant in the town. Her mother Yuko, however, chooses to stay in Osaka and the parents soon get a divorce. Yosuke starts running a restaurant but ends up closing it down soon after. Ten years later, Haruka supports her family by working part time while going to a junior college. Worrying about Haruka, Yuko invites her to come to Osaka and offers her a job. Although she has not forgiven her mother, Haruka decides to earn money in Osaka to help Yosuke reopen the restaurant. Through various experiences in Osaka, Haruka gradually understands her mother and grows as a tour planner with her talent for pleasing people. Tim Sir and the police force are in charge of solving murder cases. Siu Yau is the head of her department. Sam is a doctor whose responsibility is to find out the victims' causes of death and other health-related jobs. Ding Ding is an investigator who helps to solve cases. In between these cases, the characters of this story have a lot of personal issues to deal with. Yvonne finds that her husband has been cheating on her because she does not want to have children. Kong Jai develops a crush on Ding Ding, but soon finds out that she likes Sam. Tim Sir's wife, Charlie dies after being accidentally poisoned by a nurse. Although Tim says he is not ready for another serious relationship, he develops feelings for Siu Yau and vice versa. Sam meets a young girl named Mon, who has been taking many wrong paths in her life and he is helping her to get her life back on track. Sam writes books about crime-solving and murder, which Mon enjoys very much. What Sam does not know is that Mon has strong feelings for him. Mon is jealous of Ding Ding because Sam is dating her. But one particular day, the police force is called to a very strange case. The murder victims have been killed in the same way the victims were in Sam's books! When the force begins to suspect Mon - they find her dead. Who is this strange serial killer and why are they killing people following Sam's books?

The story starts in 1921. Jao Karmfah is a nobleman from Chiang Mai. As an arrangement by family members, he is engaged to Yaowalak. After returning to Chiang Mai for business, he falls in love with Fongkae at first sight. Karmfah decides to break off his engagement with Yaowalak to pursue Fongkae. However, Fongkae already has a man she loves, Khun Chai Yingsak Warangkorn. Fongkae's parents prefer Karmfah as their son-in-law and locks Fongkae away, pending her nuptials to Karmfah. Yingsak sneaks into Fongkae's home and takes her away. Upon hearing of this, Karmfah quickly chases them. When he finds them, he realizes that he cannot force anyone to love him. Just as Yaowalak could not force him to love her. He allows them to be together, and gives Fongkae a hair brooch he had specially crafted for her. Fongkae and Yingsak would go on to have two children, Mom Luang Sakchai and Mom Luang Sommapa.

Yaowalak, who was labelled as a disgrace by society when her fiance abandoned her, meets Than Chai Kietkong Suppakhun. He quickly becomes smitten by Yaowalak. But he has a secret relationship with one of the royal servants in his palace, Pleum. Pleum would fall pregnant with Kietkong shortly before he is to wed Yaowalak. Pleum keeps the pregnancy a secret and marries the royal chauffeur, Fu. Pleum would give birth to Plaewadee. Kietkong marries Yaowalak and has a daughter, Mom Ratchawongse (Khun Ying) Yorkiet, nicknamed Yingyor.

The lives of their children would later become intertwined with the brothers Pakinai and Pubadee. Both are children of Yaowalak and Kietkong's close friends. The decisions of their parents will bring upon a complicated and tangled web of deceit, love, and lies. However, the story does not end with the children, as the parents will also have to answer for their own desires and loves.

The story follows 21st-century man Lin Wan Rong who is touring around Mount Tai when he accidentally falls into a dark space, transferring him to a parallel world, existing at the same time as the Song dynasty. In this world, many historical facts are in contrary to what is written in historical books. For instance, Xiang Yu defeated Liu Ban at the Battle of Gaixia and never committed suicide, as a result. While he’s described as smart and generous, he also enjoys joking and playing around as much as the next person. Using his economics wits, modern knowledge, and a whole layer of thick skin, he’s able to rise to become a lord of his own. However, with money and power, he inadvertently gets entangled in a power struggle between the royal members and somehow finds himself leading a troop to war.
