Shirakawa Jiro is a genius author. At the age of 15, his novel for a magazine won the top prize. He has written 99 mystery novels as a trick genius since then. Shirakawa is tackling what would be his milestone 100th novel, but he has not been able to write anything and this has gone on for more than three months. Aonuma Kiryu is a genius interviewer who is able to get people to loosen their tongues. Taking pleasure in being an imposter, the unattractive Shirakawa has transformed into the handsome Aonuma. He does so in order to listen to what people say. While he has no interest in the truth, he seeks a real case which he had found through the internet as material for his 100th novel. It is the unsolved and sensational Tulip Murders which occurred during the summer of 1999. The grotesque abandoned corpses of two housewives were found with their skirts tied up around their necks by a homeless man. This was followed by yet another murder one year later. Together with the beautiful editor Kahiyama Rika, Shirakawa heads to the small town of Keshinohara where the cases occurred. As Aonuma, he interviews the people involved one by one and gets close to the hidden truth with his formidable powers of deduction. Kitayama Chika is a salesperson of an apparel shop who recently married Satoru, a manga artist assistant. Despite their very different personalities, Chika and Satoru enjoy their lives a lot as newlyweds, but they slowly noticed many strange changes, such as the house getting messier day by day. One day, Chika was dismissed from her job and was wondering why she couldn't do things well. She decided to get tested and found out that she has a "developmental disorder" in which the symptoms are very similar to what she has been experiencing. After hearing the result, Chika and Satoru decide to take unexpected actions while being watched over by the people around them.

It follows Gu Zi Chen, the rebellious son of a wealthy family, and Su Nian Nian, the competitive student who has to adjust to a school that she never wanted. Because of an accidental meeting, the two start a relationship of constant bickering and eventually fall in love.

Su Nian Nian has set her sights on the top-tier schools like Beijing University and Tsinghua University. A traffic accident causes her to be late and it ultimately results in her failing to gain admission. She gets into an engineering university in a small city and in this ordinary school full of problem students, Su Nian Nian has to assure herself that her stay is temporary.

However, she runs into Gu Zi Chen, the culprit behind her current conundrum. Su Nian Nian's fighting spirit shines and inspires each of her classmates who may act tough and act like they don't care to hide their insecurities. As she gradually changes her prejudice, the class learns to work together towards a common goal.

Yuri goes to a female novelist and tells her that she and two of her friends committed three murders. Yuri asks the novelist to write a story about them. She was aware that her classmate Satoko was sexually assaulted by Satoko's grandfather, but Yuri could not do anything about that and they became estranged. This hurt Yuri emotionally. Maho, from Tokyo, transferred to Yuri's high school. Maho took everything seriously and this led her to not get along with the other students, but she became close with Yuri. They lived in the same apartment complex. One day, Maho was about to be attacked by someone holding a knife. Yuri tried to help Maho and this led to Yuri stabbing the attacker.
