When Kyoichiro comes home, he hears that his 14-year-old son Kyosuke was stabbed to death. The person who killed Kyosuke turns out to be 13-year-old Mitsuru. The two boys were classmates. Due to Japan's juvenile law, Mitsuru will not receive commensurate punishment for his crime. Kyoichiro points his anger at Mitsuru and his mother Hatsumi, but Kyoichiro sees that Hatsumi also suffers from her son's actions.

High school girl Hayakawa Yui (Kuroshima Yuina) was sent back in time to 1560 during the Sengoku Period through a time machine built by her younger brother Takeru. She risked her own life to help out the Hagi clan and fell in love with Hagi Kuhachiro Tadakiyo (Ito Kentaro), the heir of the feudal lord Hagi Tadataka (Ishiguro Ken). Tadataka is a typical warlord of the period who believes in winning battles. But his mindset gradually changes because of Yui and Tadakiyo, and he even permits their marriage. Yui is betrothed to Tadakiyo. However, the clan’s arch enemy Koyama Munetsuru (Murata Takehiro), whom they were supposed to have made peace with, launches yet another battle at the instigation of Oda Nobunaga’s vassal Ouga Kazunari (Nishimura Masahiko). Ouga’s true aim is to make Koyama and Hagi fight and capture the country. Tadakiyo leaves Yui behind and heads to the castle where the advance guard is in order to stop this senseless war. A meek insurance adjuster named Wakatusuki (Masaaki Uchino) at the Showa Life Insurance company in Kanazawa, receives a phone call from a customer (Shinobu Ootake) who asks whether his company pays on a life insurance policy if the cause of death is suicide. Wakatusuki is then called to the home of a client named Shigenori. When he looks around Shigenori's home, he discovers a body hanging from the ceiling in an apparent suicide. The body belongs Shigenori's teenage son. Furthermore, Wakatusuki discovers that Shigenori has taken out an insurance policy on his wife ... who happens to be the person that called him asking about the payout related to suicides.
