Since she was a child, Yeon-hee dreamt of becoming an action star. Even though she has an amazing swordsmanship, the reality of reaching her goal is just too hard for her to handle.

One day, she is hired as a stand-in for an action film and goes onto the set, only to be transported to a lawless parallel world where people carry swords and kill each other without any retribution. Almost immediately, she is welcomed to the village as their protector and is respected by the villagers. And to save the villagers as a heroine, she begins to fight the villains back.

Uryu Shinbei appeals his boss’s corruption and his appeal is denied. He is kicked out from the han. Shortly afterwards, his wife Shino collapses from a disease and dies. Right before her death, she tells Uryu Shinbei, "I hope you go back to the han and help Uneme Sakakibara.” Uryu Shinbei and Sakakibara Uneme were friends, but they became rivals to gain Shino's affection. The film starts with a brief recollection of the "King of Killers", a dangerous assassin that has been operating in most of southeast Asia. The King of Killers has no known accomplices or colleagues, is not affiliated with any government, religious, or criminal organization, and to this date their true identity has still remained secret. The King of Killers is believed to be responsible for 6 murders in the past year alone, with only one thing connecting each of the assassinations - all the victims were criminals and deserved to die. Then the movie quickly moves on to the King of Killers' most recent killing, the well-publicized assassination of a notorious ex-yakuza crime boss. Working swiftly, the King of Killers is able to overcome the criminal's defense systems, quickly incapacitating the boss's bodyguards and isolating his target. In a fit of desperation, the crime boss promises to triple whatever fee the King of Killers is being paid to kill him, then goes on to warn the vigilante that there is a massive revenge fund set to avenge his killing. Ignoring his pleas, the King of Killers silently kills the crime boss.

The movie is about China's role in the Korean War of 1950-1953. China had joined Russia in supplying arms and men to North Korean forces, which had invaded South Korea. America supported South Korea, and the 1953 armistice between the two sides resulted in the permanent division between North Korea and South Korea. With a total death toll exceeding 1 million deaths, and Korean civilian deaths accounting for the majority of those deaths, it was the fifth bloodiest war in U.S. history.

Dear Friends follows a high-school student named Rina, who believes that friends are not necessary and that they can only be used in times of need. Thus, she is unable to maintain a decent relationship with her friends and classmates.
