Im Dae-ho (Song Kang-ho) has been a huge fan of professional wrestling since his childhood. In South Korea, a wrestler called Kim Il was a big star in the 1970s, but Dae-ho preferred a cheating fighter called Ultra Tiger Mask. Years later, when his job at a bank isn't going well, Dae-ho decides to try professional wrestling himself.

Jung Eun (Soo Ae), a former pickpocket with four convictions under her belt, has just gotten out of prison after a three-year sentence. Joo Suk (Ju Hyeon), who lost his sight in one eye, loves his daughter but is very reluctant to show it. Joo Suk is worried about his daughter being close to gangsters and tries to help her.

One rainy night, loose-cannon detective Kang is on watch duty and takes a dump behind a hydro-electric pole. Standing up, he bumps into someone in the shadows, making him step back and fall into his own waste. Pissed off more than ever, Kang chases after the man and smacks the back of his head. But the stranger walks away with no response. Kang goes after him and tries to throw a punch, but ends up getting cut beneath his eye. Blood gushes out of his face. A week later, Cho, a well-mannered yuppie fund manager, loses his parents. They’ve been found murdered, with multiple stab wounds. There are no clues about this gruesome slaying. From this day onward, In-gi delights in finding the things they have in common --- from their affinity to banana-flavored milk and forgotten comic book characters. In-gi is fueled by his love for Yeo-kyung to make a masterpiece. Yeo-kyung is also emboldened by In-gi's affections and decides to become a true writer. They begin to collaborate on a story about the love between a circus clown and the daughter of the circus troupe director.
